Název Sanitka přání vychází z myšlenky splnit poslední přání osobám na sklonku života, a to za pomoci dobrovolníků a vlastní sanitky.
Stichting Ambulance Wens byla založena v Holandsku v roce 2007 jako doplněk péče o imobilní pacienty v terminálním stádiu nemoci. Zakladatelem byl řidič sanitky Kees Veldboer. Stále existuje mnoho pacientů, kteří zemřou, aniž by se skutečně „rozloučili“. Jedním z důvodů, proč tomu tak je, je imobilita pacienta a stávající systém není připraven pacientovo přání splnit. Proto byla založena nadace na pomoc lidem, kteří jsou závislí na sanitní dopravě.
Impulsem k založení nadace byla událost, která se stala zakladateli nadace - Kees Veldboer splnil poslední přání bývalého námořníka, pana Stefanuta, během převozu sanitkou v Rotterdamu. Tento pán tak strašně chtěl ještě jednou plout na lodi, že Kees „podlehl“ jeho prosbám a plavbu pacientovi umožnil.
Další možnosti toho, co bychom mohli pro lidi s život ohrožujícím onemocněním a zbytkem života udělat, jsou například návštěva ZOO, návštěva milovaného člověka, který již není mobilní, návštěva určitého místa, na které má pacient zvláštní vzpomínky atd. Jsou to jednoduché věci s velkým významem.
Je možné realizovat i náročnější přání, jako jsou například výlet lodí, návštěvu koncertu, sportovního utkání, divadla, atd. To vše pod vedením odborného personálu a sanitky s pohodlnými nosítky.
Služba je pro klienta ZDARMA. Provoz je financován díky dárcům, ať už se jedná o soukromé osoby, firmy, větší společnosti či státní správu ve formě dotací.

The name Sanitka přání (translated to Ambulance of wishes) is based on the idea of fulfilling the last wishes of people at the end of their lives - immobile patients in the terminal stage of their disease, with the help of volunteers and their own ambulance.
Stichting Ambulance Wens was founded in the Netherlands in 2007 as a supplement to the care of immobile patients in the terminal stage of their disease. The founder was ambulance driver Kees Veldboer. There are still many patients who die without actually "saying goodbye". One of the reasons for this is the patient's immobility and the current system is not ready to fulfil the patient's wishes. That is why a foundation was set up to help people who are dependent on ambulance transport.
The initial reason for forming the foundation was the event that happened to the founder of the foundation - Kees Veldboer fulfilled the last wish of the former sailor, Mr. Stefanut, during the ambulance transport in Rotterdam. This gentleman wanted so much to sail the ship once again that Kees "succumbed" to his wish and brought him not just to the harbour but gave him the final opportunity to sail again, much to his delight.
Other options we could do for people with life-threatening illnesses and terminally ill patients are, for example, a visit to a zoo, a visit to see a loved one who is no longer mobile, a visit to a place where the patient has special memories, etc. These are simple things of great importance.
It is possible to organise even more demanding wishes, such as a boat trip, a concert visit, a sports match, a theatre visit, etc. All under the guidance of professional staff and an ambulance with a comfortable facility.
The service is FREE for the client. The event is financed thanks to donors, whether they are private persons, companies, larger companies or the state authorities in the form of subsidies.
